The day you become a beekeeper, you also become a mitekeeper and successfully managing your mites will directly affect your hive’s ability to thrive. David Baker, beekeeper and owner of To Bee or Not to Bee Beekeeping Supplies, will cover the various methods used to assess Varroa mite levels in your hive and how to manage your bees for maximum health in the face of the greatest current threat to bee populations. This class will cover topics such as the principles behind IPM, the life cycle of the Varroa mite, how to count Varroa mites, and how to control Varroa mites using both mechanical approaches and soft chemical treatments.

Class will be held at The Inn at Hudson Gardens.
